-Past, Present and Future Randoshia Heyward Interdisciplinary Capstone Course/GEN480 Professor Hiltbrand July 29, 2007 In June of 2004 I started on the job(p) for Medicare as a customer portion representative. This is an entry level position and I knew this. I was real excited about my new job because of the opportunities for advancement. I believed that functional here was the start to my go. At the time I had no idea what type of career I wanted entirely I knew I wanted to work for Medicare. I had somewhat college under my belt. I attended Spartanburg Methodist College for two geezerhood as a criminal justice major that did not obtain my degree. I was okay with my level of knowledge and real excited about my new job. After working for about 6 months I saw an opening for a Fraud Analyst position within Medicare. I was truly excited about this because my current education background is in criminal justice. I applied for the job thinking I had a good chance. I was truly wrong in my thinking. I received an email from the recruiter and she stated that they were only interviewing candidates that had a bachelors degree. I was devastated! I did not read a degree and was not thinking about get off one. I honestly believed that I could progress in my career based upon experience alone.

I had excellent written and vocal communication skills, great customer service skills and was very breaker point oriented. I believed that this was enough for me to excel in my career. I was very wrong about that. In order to get in advance in the corporate world I realized that a degree is the key. Moving up in career was very important to me. I truly enjoy the company I work for and the work I do. I wanted to be in upper management one day. In my head teacher the way to do that was to learn everything I could about the Medicare field.
