Enjoyment of Music
Here is a footling bit of background about heat content Purcell. The opera house house house house Dido and Aeneas was Englands oldest opera and was Henrys only true opera he composed. Henrys opera was first performed in a all girls boarding school in 1689. Dido and Aeneas, establish on books of Virgils Aeneid, is set in Carthage at the court of queen regnant Dido.
I really dont like opera still the Dido and Aeneas wasnt to bad. I think it may because it was in the Baroque period. I think what makes me no like opera is because it mostly just the beauty of the art of the music and it gets dim when there just standing there write. Its like person is frozen on stage and no function else is going on.
Henrys opera shows the life at Didos rook in Carthage and the first meeting of Dido and Aeneas. The Sorceress and the witches begin to plot against the couple. The opera opens with Dido in her court with her attendants. Belinda is trying to cheer Dido up, but Dido so sad. Belinda believes the source of this sadness is because Trojan Aeneas Trojan suggests that Carthages troubles could be pertinacious by getting married. She tells him that he must abandon Carthage and put a new Troy on Latin soil.
piece Aeneas hates the ruling of leaving Dido he cant refuse a gods command. In the end, Aeneas decides to defy the gods command and stay with Dido. Dido refuses to stay with a lover who even considered leaving her and Dido later dies.
After this opera started it was hard to keep up with not only the signing but the story behind the story. By coming to this opera it gave me a different overview on the whole opera thing it wasnt as boring as I thought it was. There is a lot more to the opera but to be honest I couldnt write overflowing down during performance.
