Case: Timberjack Parts package Software Selection
The RFP (request for proposal) process includes a series of steps to make up the pros and cons of possible software packages. This process will eventually support Timberjack to set apart the best manufacturing software package to implement so that efficiencies will increase amongst their many international sites. The process is linear in that it encompassed these steps: go through vendor list, get down vendor list by critique of what they gap and its link to Timberjacks needs, visit sites where various products are personad, and use of implementation consulting for the final two vendors in install to select one who will fulfill their needs most closely. Timberjack is flavor for a system which is designed so that there is teeny need for customization or modifications. The process was valuable in that it allowed the disparate cultures (US and Sweden) to claim their thoughts/views on all of the different vendors and which one they believed to be best for them. They planned the project well by pose a timeline and by going the extra mile to find that many people were involved so that they could not olfactory modality at the new software and claim that they did not lack it or think that it was suitable for the company.
They also focused on the feasibility, time to institute/implement, needs for the new package, testing and proof of new systems functionality, and upkeep and maintenance of the new systems.
